Next, drive away through a remarkably large world for a kids’ app. The world includes tunnels, bridges, cities, forests, waterfalls, hills, roller coasters, snow-covered wilderness, and more. Train stations dot the countryside and city, where you can move more characters on and off the train. There’s no goal or end to the app; it is open to imaginative play and there is a certain peacefulness to seeing the colorful countryside scroll past. You can play with the app six times for free, and then an in-app purchase is required to keep using the app.

Point your iPhone camera at a cloud and let the Atmosphere app identify it for you. I am not a meteorologist, but the app seems to be fairly good at identifying clouds, plus it is a fun way to look at and talk about clouds with your kids. The app contains information on clouds, such as altitude and chance of rain in different types of clouds. This section could use much more information, and hopefully, that will appear in future updates. The machine learning capabilities used to identify the clouds are built into the hardware of iPhones so no internet connection is required, but a more recent device like an 11 or 12 is recommended. The live camera identification feature is free, with an in-app purchase if you want to take pictures of clouds and have them identified and saved. Atmosphere is a fun use of your iPhone’s camera to look at and identify clouds.
