Math it Right has kids controlling a young dragon solving math problems and exploring 3D worlds on a quest to save their friends. As the dragon, kids will roam worlds looking for numbers that add up to a target number, fly through environments practicing multiplication tables, and solve equations to battle other creatures. Each environment contains dangers, such as collapsing bridges and storm clouds filled with lightning, or other gameplay elements such as a moving platform or a switch to open a hidden door. Falling to a danger costs a life and losing all three lives sets you back to the beginning of the level. The controls are simple but take some getting used to, and could cause some frustration with younger kids. Math it Right really does give kids something different than the standard math practice game, with interesting areas to explore and the hook of wanting to see what is next in the dragon’s adventure.

Spellie

There are already plenty of clones of Wordle, but Spellie manages to stand out with kid-friendly features. Spellie is a word puzzle game where kids get six attempts to guess a word. Getting a letter in the right spot turns that letter green, getting the right letter in the wrong spot turns that letter yellow. When kids near the end of their attempts, the game gives them the option to look at hints to help them guess the word. By default, kids can also guess random sequences of letters instead of complete words, which makes the game easier to play (this feature can be turned off). Spellie simplifies the word list to common words that kids will know, and offers three puzzle per day in easy , medium and hard versions so kids don’t have to stop at just one. Like Wordle, Spellie is a web-based game and currently completely free.
