Influent is a 3D language learning game. A story wraps the game: the inventor of a language learning device has had his designs stolen, and must raise money and prove it works in the most modern way possible – by live streaming himself. Players walk, or fly, around a somewhat messy apartment packed with objects, and gather the words for those objects, plus additional words associated with the object (such as verbs or adjectives) into lists. The words are written, and pronounced by a native speaker. In order to master these words and progress the story, the game quizzes players with the word (either in writing or verbally) and the player must find the word amongst all the stuff in the apartment. Influent is a very different take on language learning, and the story aspect may be enough motivation to keep some playing and learning. You can try French, Korean and Italian for free, with many additional languages available as in-app purchases.
Star Walk for Kids

Star Walk for Kids is a simplified version of one of the best star guide apps (Star Walk). Kids are led on a journey through the solar system and beyond with facts and videos about the sun, planets and constellations. They can find these objects in the sky using their iPhone or iPad as a viewfinder by physically moving around and using the gyroscope, or simply by swiping on the screen. The animations, videos and narration are all incredibly good, although it doesn’t contain nearly as much information as the main app. Star Walk for Kids is now free to download, with ads and a very reasonably priced in-app purchase to remove those ads if you like the app.
