Sleeping Stones

Sleeping Stones is a storybook app about, on the surface, a young owl attempting to fix a hole in the roof of their nest. The story has a mythic and poetic feel to it. Fixing the roof is not a mundane task, but a journey of growth and discovery, both physically and mentally. The book is presented as simple animated pages with words and images appearing in step with the narration. Unfortunately there is no option to read the story yourself without narration. The story, images and music are all very good. In particular the music is created using some unusual handmade instruments, and there’s a section where you can try to guess which sound is made by which instrument.

Monster Maths Pro

Monster Maths Pro is a cute quiz-based app for reinforcing addition and subtraction. Choose the range of numbers to work with (from 0-10 all the way up to 100), and choose addition, subtraction or both, and the app will ask 20 questions to quiz your ability. Answers are shown multiple-choice style on the bottom of the screen, and you can choose until you get the right answer. At the end of the quiz, you get a simple result of correct answers out of 20. The graphics are kid friendly and stylized, with cute monsters everywhere, and even the numbers having personality. You can also dress up the monsters in custom costumes, but this is merely cosmetic. Monster Maths Pro is a low cost basic quiz app with a cute monster-theme, with no ads or in-app purchases for those looking for a little extra math practice for their little ones.
