K-5 Science for Kids – Tappity
by Tappity, Inc.
K-5 Science for Kids covers many different science topics of interest to kids such as space, the planet, animals, dinosaurs and more. Each topic contains many different lessons presented as narrated stories with some interactive elements such as digging through the Earth’s crust or looking around in space. The stories are very professional and the host is enthusiastic in a way that makes things fun rather than a dry textbook presentation. You can try many of the early lessons for free, with full access requiring a subscription.
Ivy Transportation
by Bitway International USA
Ivy Transportation explores seven different vehicles. Each vehicle comes with pronunciation in both Spanish and English, a coloring book page that can be saved to your photos, and an activity such as a simple puzzle or matching game. The coloring book is the main draw of the app, as the activities do not change. The graphics are clean and colourful, but lack animation. This is a straightforward and fairly simple app, but is offered for a one time purchase and does not come with ads like so many apps do in this category.
Patrick Stewart’s #ASonnetADay
Near the start of the pandemic, Sir Patrick Stewart decided to read and record one of Shakespeare’s sonnets every day. Amazingly, he’s up to 137 already.
