Sago Mini School
by Sago Sago Toys Inc.

Sago Mini School is a preschool app with a wide variety of learning activities. The app builds activities into topic areas, but instead of topics like math, words, colors and shapes, it uses more kid-friendly topics like playgrounds, bugs, rainbows, trucks and more. Kids can then engage in activities that teach shapes, numbers, letters, reading, videos, drawing, and some science ideas in the context of the topic chosen. This encourages children to explore, play and learn, which is what they do naturally anyway. The production values from Sago are of course top notch. The app currently includes 7 topic areas and more are being added regularly. Sago Mini School requires signing up for an account and offers a 7 day free trial, and then charges a monthly or yearly subscription fee.

Virtual Museum of Art
by Tom BITTIKOFFER

Virtual Museum of Art is, as it says, a self-contained 3D representation of an art museum. You can wander through three large rooms containing three different styles of art, including the Italian Renaissance, the bold black and white art of Mario Muller, and the abstract paintings of Jules Sher. Several paintings, especially in the Renaissance section, have audio explanations of the artwork. It can be a bit tricky navigating, but it does feel like an art museum, and gives a chance for an excursion during a time when we might not otherwise be able to view these works in person.

What do Flamingos Look Like Underwater?

We’re familiar with the sight of long legged flamingos lowering their heads into the water to feed, but what do they look like from under the water?
