DragonBox Numbers
by WeWantToknow AS
DragonBox Numbers is a fun way to explore numbers and basic math. Kids can combine individual units, called Nooms, into taller units, or split taller Nooms into smaller ones. This gives an intuitive feel for how big numbers are, and how addition and subtraction work. There are puzzles to complete, using this technique, ladders to build, plus another platformer game mode that uses intuitive math to collect stars. It’s very well done and free on iOS in May (regularly 7.99 USD).
Stop Motion Studio
by Cateater, LLC
Performing stop motion animation is incredible easy with Stop Motion Studio. Stop motion involves taking a picture, moving objects in your scene slightly and taking another picture, and I was able to get good looking results immediately using the free part of the app and a few simple things on a table. If you want to go beyond basic movies, the app offers filters, green screen effects, music and sound, and even animated Lego faces as in-app purchases. It’s great for a bit of creativity while we are at home.
