App Friday March 20th, 2020

Things are changing fast in the world right now due to the global pandemic, kids are suddenly out of school, and we’re all trying to keep each other healthy and safe. I was on the fence about whether App Friday was still needed, but companies and teachers are stepping up with apps and educational resources to try to help, so we will continue to bring you what we find.

Nampa Design has a new app that gives kids a chance to be creative with a cartoon theatre production, Dr. Panda has very generously set 5 of their apps free to help keep kids happy and engaged, plus kids can watch and listen to a daily children’s book read by Mr. Dearybury.

Nampa Show
by Nampa Design AB

Brand new this week, Nampa Show is a creative play dollhouse-style app centred around a theatre show. Kids can set up scenes on stage against several different backgrounds from medieval to musicals or even outer space, along with charming props on ropes like a real theatre. The cartoon characters can also be moved into dressing rooms to change costumes, a kitchen area to grab a snack, or a loft to take a quick nap. Nampa Show is a fun, well-designed and different addition to the dollhouse genre. Try the app for free, and unlock additional content with a one-time in-app purchase.

Dr. Panda Ltd is generously offering five of their apps for free until Monday to help keep your little ones entertained and engaged.

Compilation of Educational Resources

I haven’t been through even a small fraction of these, so this is not an endorsement for any of them in particular, but it is an impressive list of resources.

Reading with Mr. Dearybury

This is wonderful. A teacher is making a daily video where he reads a children’s book.
