Otsimo is an all-in-one subscription app targeted at special needs kids. Activities cover letters, numbers, words, objects, music, matching, simple math and more. Parents can access reports on the child’s activities and progress, and set goals for the child. There is a one-week trial, and a monthly or yearly subscription to keep using the app.
Tabby 2.0 (Lite)
by Soren Grier
When parents don’t want young kids to have full access to their music library, they can use Tabby. Parents select the music they want to add to the app from their iTunes library, customizing them with the album artwork or kid-friendly icons from the app. Preschoolers can then select and play the songs as they wish.
Free Technology for Teachers: How to Use Socratic by Google
See a math problem you don’t understand? Point your device’s camera at it and Socratic will find information to help you understand and solve the problem. It can also search for information on concepts from text in your picture. Of course, it also finds the answer, so it may not be good for students that just want to quickly finish their homework, but it is an interesting example of what devices can do as machine vision gets better.
