The Rinky Dinky Rhyme Book
by Simon Alexander
The Rinky Dinky Rhyme Book combines poetry, art, stickers and music into an unusual and unique experience. It contains 24 pages of poems with narration and music. Each page is illustrated in a somewhat quirky style and comes with a set of stickers in a sidebar that can be added to the scene, rotated, and enlarged. Each sticker also plays a musical note when in the sidebar with a different musical instrument for each page. It could use more stickers per page, but worth checking out if you are looking for a different experience from the standard kids’ app. The first 8 pages are free to try, with the remaining requiring an in-app purchase to unlock.
Millie’s Bath Battle
by MegaPops LLC
Millie’s Bath Battle is a story and activity book about bath time for dogs and their struggles to avoid it. The story features narration and real life images of an adorable dog taking a bath framed as a ‘Professor Millie’ teaching other dogs how to battle bath time. The app then switches to a cartoony animated game in which you try to bathe and groom a dog while the dog comes up with clever ways to avoid being lathered, rinsed, and dried. There are stickers to collect, a postcard maker, and a ‘stinky’ scent maker included, but the dog bathing game is the main feature. It’s a fun, high quality app for dog lovers.
Children’s Book Series on Netflix and YouTube
“this 12 episode series features prominent Black voices – authors, athletes, actors, musicians, and comedians – reading children’s books from Black authors that highlight the Black experience.”
‘Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices’ will premier on September 1 on Netflix and for those without Netflix on the Netflix Jr. YouTube channel.
