Happy App Friday!

Color your favorite Disney characters, and then play with them in palaces and towns in Disney Coloring World. After a long day of play, help the people of London, New York and Beijing wind down for the night in Off to Bed – Bedtime Stories. Plus, can plants actually hear sounds?

Visit several locations throughout London, New York, and Beijing and help the inhabitants close up shop, put their vehicles away, or head home for the night. Each location comes with a narrated introduction that briefly explains the place, then you can tap on people or objects to play animations, and finally turn down the lights when everyone is ready for bed. The pace of the app is slow and peaceful (which I suppose is the point), and will appeal more to younger kids.

Disney Coloring World is both a coloring book full of Disney characters and a playset. It comes with a large number of characters from Cars, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, and many more. These can be colored any way you’d like, or a magic brush can fill in the character for you. Once colored, the character becomes available to play within several highly-detailed and animated Disney movie locations.

Disney Coloring World requires a subscription for long term use, but comes with a 7-day free trial.

Flowers Can Hear

“Sound is so elemental to life and survival that it prompted Tel Aviv University researcher Lilach Hadany to ask: What if it wasn’t just animals that could sense sound—what if plants could, too? The first experiments to test this hypothesis… suggest that in at least one case, plants can hear, and it confers a real evolutionary advantage.”

OK, they may or may not care if we talk to them, but sound is vibration in the air, flowers are well-shaped to pick up those vibrations, and more importantly, can respond to those sounds when they hear bees.
