Welcome to App Friday, our weekly link exchange of family-friendly apps. This week we have a diverse selection of apps from Night & Day Studios. In honor of Valentines Day, they’ve got The Questions, and accessibly mobile form of relationship guidance. (We know there are many parents in our audience, so for those of you with teens, this might be a tool for the tumultuous years.) To round out the promotion, they included Kindermusik Radio, and Peekaboo Wild, for children and tots. All apps are specially priced for App Friday, and some have Free/Lite versions available. Thanks for joining us!
The Questions In the spirit of love, successful relationships, and smart decision-making we’d like to introduce you to: The Questions. The origins of this app began simply, with a few questions written down on index cards. Portland, Oregon psychologist, Dr. Elsbeth Martindale, was working with a teen client who was considering taking her relationship to the next level. Martindale started jotting down the types of questions her client might want to ask before deepening the relationship, and transferred these questions to cards so her client could refer to them outside the office.
Soon she began using this process with many of her other clients of all ages and stages of life– engaged, newly dating, and newly single–and the list of questions grew. Over the years she expanded and formalized the process into 76 distinct questions that cover topics like friendship, acceptance, family, privacy, and listening. The Questions App guides the user through all the questions, tracks your answers, and offers the option to dig deeper on particularly relevant topics. The Questions is a great way for parents to not only talk to their teens about their relationships and potential partners, but to build their self-esteem and make sure they’re asking for the respect they deserve (and may still need to learn to ask for). Kindermusik RadioThis is much like Pandora, but for kids and families! Dance, march, skip, and stretch. Swing your partner and then rock to a lullaby. Just like a mini Kindermusik class, this radio app provides parents a way to engage and interact with their children– at home, on the go, anywhere. With 5 streaming audio stations to choose from, the app will give you access to over 100 of the very finest and authentic reproductions of classic children’s songs: nursery rhymes and stories, as well as Kindermusik originals. Each song includes lyrics and a corresponding activity designed to stimulate early childhood development. The activities were developed by Kindermusik educators. The company has over 30 years of experience, and is inspired by the work of early childhood development experts such as Piaget, Montessori, and Greenspan. Kindermusik is the recognized leader in early childhood music and movement curricula.
Peekaboo Wild Peekaboo Wild is the second in our trilogy of Peekaboo apps, which also includes Peekaboo Barn and Peekaboo Forest. In Peekaboo Wild you and your toddler will peer through the waving grasses of the African savannah to discover all the friendly wild animals who are waiting to pop out. Have a great time with your child learning the names of the animals, in English or Spanish, and hearing the sounds they make. This is the first time any Peekaboo has been on sale, ever!

Missed the sale on peekaboo Wild. Boo. I just found this site my three year old is special needs and is learning to talk with iPad apps. Peekaboo barn taught him animals. I am thinking of doing a list of great SN apps on my blog if y’all have suggestions.
