App Friday: The Kids of Silicon Valley

It was going to be another quiet App Friday to round out the holiday shutdown. But in San Francisco today, developers for family-friendly apps were making headway. While I’m not up to speed on the free deals for you this week (our standard App Friday promotions will resume on January 6th), I do have amazing stories and events to share.

Thank you for joining us as we celebrate the incoming new year with rockin’ good news, and watch our Facebook Page and Link Exchange as developers get back into the groove with promotional pricing.

ABC News covers app developers and kids at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco

Ahmed from Go Go Mongo, and Jacob and Gabriel from Motion Math, participated in the Innovation Lab at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco.

The Innovation Lab connects developers with children from the local community for product testing, and is spearheaded by Ben Grossman-Kahn, the Education and Innovation Manager at the Museum. ABC Local News was there to document today’s activity at the Innovation Lab, which shows how kids are able to provide direct feedback about what works and what doesn’t in their latest tech products…(see video below or click to the story here: http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/technology&id=8484275)

The apps tested include:

Go Go Mongo, and game about healthy eating – $.99

Hungry Fish, an intuitive game for visualizing addition – Free to download with options for in app purchase

  1. Lorraine,
What a year! During a time of extreme economic insecurity one would think competition would be fierce leading no one to share their “secret sauce.” …Your ability to unite a global group of individuals and inspire everyone to share knowledge and suppport each other is amazing. I’ve loved working with Evan on a new app, Chipper is “chipper” for Mongo, David and Annie inspire me and I get to just drive one exit for coffee – meeting so many new people this year and I already feel like 2012 is going to be an incredible year for everyone.

Get out the pots and pans and ring it in! Cheers to everyone – continue to share, support, and work hard to bring great apps to children everywhere. Wahooo.

  2. @Stephanie it’s always a compliment to receive a comment from you. Thanks for your consistent energy – and all the best for 2012! Hello Chipper!
