App Friday: Workshop Day at Moms With Apps!

While you’re downloading apps, 50 Moms With Apps developers will be meeting in person to infuse the industry with greatness. Our bar is high because families are important, and we want to see the marketplace bubbling with creativity – not conformity. So let’s boot up that iTunes App Store to keep this engine running. Viva App Friday!

Just Launched

There are a couple of apps I’d like to remark upon this week. First is a multiplication table app from Esa at iDevBooks that demonstrates the visual concepts of the tables in an open-ended fashion. I’ve never seen anything like this yet, and it’s really been interesting to see my 3rd grader “explore” math. She uses this along with her other favorites, Tap Times Tables, Multiplying Acorns, and Monty’s Quest.

Next is an app by Creativity Mobile called DoReMi 1-2-3. It just launched today, and we were fortunate enough to be beta testers. Let’s just say that my first grader had a ball with the app. Using the “Play” setting, she made music with Moo Cows. The interesting part was seeing her go from tapping a single finger, to splaying her fingers experimentally to make multiple moos. Giggles were had by all, plus we learned a few songs along the way. Congratulations to all of the above developers for making interesting and useful content for families.
